Immigration Reform, California building a formidable path

While the media circus still focuses on the government shutdown and the looming negotiations on raising the U.S. debt ceiling, the New York Times reminisced yesterday on another important issue enduring Congressional inaction.  In the piece the Times reminded that an immigration reform bill “passed the Senate, 68 to 32, in June, then it entered the abyss of the Republican-controlled House.”

For the Times an outcome is predictable by sampling the “good example” of California “where a Democratic governor, Jerry Brown, a Democratic-controlled Legislature and a Republican Party conspicuously lacking in Tea Partyers have made strides in advancing a sensible immigration agenda.”
